August 23: Harold "Hal" Kalin (71), one half of the "Kalin Twins" died on this day in 2005.

The Kalins, from Port Jervis, NY, had a gold record in 1957 from their recording of "When" which reached Number 5 on the pop charts in the US. The Kalins stopped recording in 1962, but were still performing as a pop-nostalgia act across the country. Hal Kalin died from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 71.
