August 12: Legendary Blues guitarist Luther Allison died on this date at the age of 57.

Allison died of lung cancer that metastasized to his brain. He died five days before his 58th birthday.
Discovered by Muddy Maters, Allison backed up James Cotton, and many other musical legends.
Allison covered "You Can't Always Get What You Want" for the 1997 Rolling Stones' tribute album, "Paint it Blue: Songs of the Rolling Stones."
He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame posthumously in 1998. In 2000, the "Chicago Sun-Times" called him "The Bruce Springsteen of the blues".
